Fifteen years ago this month, I took a terrifying and thrilling leap.
I became a small business owner: I started Monarch CPA.
I wanted to create a different kind of accounting firm. One that offered reliable and precise accounting and tax services, sure; but one that also helped its clients better understand their numbers. My conviction was that if a business owner could understand her numbers, she would make better decisions – strategic ones – that could help her business thrive. This became the spark behind Monarch CPA.
In these past fifteen years, we’ve learned and evolved so much, but one thing that hasn’t changed is our desire to help our clients become better leaders through financial literacy.
In March of this year, we underwent a rebranding exercise to discover our point of difference and the value we bring. What emerged was our relentless passion and desire to help our clients become smarter about their finances, closing the “financial knowledge gap” that so many small business owners have. This became the cornerstone of our brand, exemplified on our new website.
We also created a new tool for our clients: the “Mind the GAAP” section on our site, which seeks to fill the knowledge gap with strategic planning and financial understanding courses. These classes are specially designed to help business leaders like you become more financially savvy. We’re starting small – just a handful of lectures for now – but we have plans to develop a rich platform of financial literacy tools.
During our rebranding journey, we discovered that our brand persona is the matriarch, a leader who feels responsible for protecting others while providing oversight and governance. In good times and in bad, she inspires a sense of security, certainty, respect and assurance through self-control, experience and command.
We felt that the elephant – a highly intelligent and social mammal, led by a matriarch, whose position is granted by respect and wisdom, not bloodline – was the perfect symbol to capture our brand. And what better name for a matriarch than “Monarch”?
As part of our rebrand, we wrote our brand story: who we are, what we stand for, what inspires us every day and what we wish for our clients. We invite you to spend some time on our website, to better understand our mission and vision and dreams for our clients. We think you’ll find that everything we do is to help you thrive and account for your success.
With heartfelt appreciation,
